JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. -- The East Tennessee State Lady Bucs rallied in the second half, but could not overcome a 22-point halftime deficit as they fell to the Furman Lady Paladins 95-82 Wednesday night in Brooks Gym.

Furman (11-7, 5-4) led 51-29 following a torrid shooting first half. The Lady Paladins (3-15, 3-6) shot 22-33 (.667) compared to the Lady Bucs 12-27 (.444). The Lady Bucs grabbed an early 2-0 lead, but Furman stormed back with a 15-6 run to take control of the game. The largest lead of the half Furman's halftime lead of 22.

The Furman lead fluctuated between 20 and 25 points for most of the second half, but the Lady Bucs began to claw back late in the half. ETSU went on a 17-7 run to cut the lead to ten following two Shona Johnson free throws with 1:02 remaining. But Furman hit their free throws in the final minute to provide the final 13-point margin of victory.

Both teams shot well from the floor, with Furman shooting 56 percent (40-71) and ETSU shooting a season-high 50 percent (32-64). Furman had an advantage from the free-throw line, with the Paladins shooting 12-16 (.750) at the stripe while the Lady Bucs shot 14-26 (.538). Furman also won the battle of the boards, holding a 44-30 advantage over ETSU.

The Lady Bucs were led by junior forward Megan Jackson, who tied her career-high with 19 points and also pulled down a game high nine rebounds. It is her third-consecutive double-digit scoring effort. Freshmen Jessica Lonon (12) and Racquel Ellis (10) also scored in double-digits for ETSU.

Furman was led by Kim Lawrence, who tallied 14 points. Kena Hodges and Alison Thomason both scored 12 points for the Lady Paladins, Hodges on 4-6 shooting and Thomason on 5-6 shooting.

The Lady Bucs return to action Saturday afternoon from Brooks Gym as they take on SoCon rival Davidson. Tip-off is set for 3:00 p.m.
