JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Dec. 17, 2001) - East Tennessee State Lady Buc freshman guard Ashley Reed (Barrackville, W.Va.) was named to the Active Ankle Bearcat Invitational All-Tournament Team following Sunday afternoon's championship game.

Reed came off of the bench to score 18 points, pull down six rebounds and record three steals in 26 minutes of play. She shot 7-17 from the floor, including 4-10 from three-point range.
Ashley was rewarded for her great game on Saturday with her first collegiate start Sunday in the consolation game of the Bearcat Invitational against Troy State. Reed responded immediately by scoring 11 points in the first half, leading ETSU to a 45-32 halftime lead.
Troy State made an impressive run in the second half, cutting the lead to as few as three on several occasions late in the game. With ETSU up by just four, 73-69 with 57 seconds remaining, Reed had the ball with the shot clock running down. Reed drove the lane and hit a running jumper over the taller Troy State post players to give ETSU a six-point lead and essentially seal the victory.
