JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (July 22, 2006) - Coach Karen Kemp and the ETSU women's basketball team have recently announced the signing of Amelia Miller (Winnsboro, S.C.), a sophomore transfer from Western Carolina University.  Due to NCAA rules, Miller will sit out the 2006-07 season, but suit up for the Lady Bucs in 2007-08.

"Amelia will bring much needed depth at the guard position and has the ability to play both the point guard and shooting guard positions," said Kemp.  "She will be able to practice with us this year and learn our system and be ready to step right in and contribute in 07-08."

Miller, who played at Fairfield High School, racked up 1,803 points during her prep career including a career-high 44, averaging 21.0 points, six rebounds, and five assists a game during her final two seasons.  Following her senior season, Miller was an all-state selection in South Carolina, as well as an All-America nominee.  After an outstanding four years as a prep, Fairfield retired Miller's number (13).

As a rookie at WCU, Miller averaged 4.8 ppg, playing 13.3 minutes a night.  The 5-foot-7 point guard tallied 110 points for the season, along with 21 steals and 15 assists.  Miller, who averaged 2.5 rebounds a game, saw action in 23 of the Catamounts' 29 contests, making one start.
