The Lady Bucs took a 36-27 lead into halftime when senior Holly Moring (Irmo, S.C.) drained a three-pointer from the corner as time expired. ETSU gained the lead by holding the Hoyas scoreless during final 4:00 minutes, closing out the half on a 12-0 run. The first half was tightly contested before the Lady Bucs went on the run as there were 11 lead changes and five ties.
ETSU was led by Evans' game-high 16 points, and junior Michele DeVault (
DeVault recorded her 500th career point by connecting on a three-pointer with 16:24 in the first half; while senior Brooke Wilhoit (Sevierville, Tenn.) recorded her 272nd career assist, moving her ahead of Annette Culbertson (1978-81) for seventh on the all-time assist list in ETSU history.
"We gave them the game by missing too many shots and turning the ball over down the stretch, said head coach Karen Kemp. If we didn't miss our layups and free-throws we would have won the game by eight or 10 points. However, I am proud of how our girls played defensively by holding a team from the Big East to 53 total points."
The Lady Bucs will now embark on a five-game road trip which begins Monday night against UNC Asheville. Tip is set for 7 p.m. inside the
