Lady Bucs and Georgetown to meet for the first time in 22 years

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Nov. 23, 2006) - The ETSU women's basketball team will be looking to post back-to-back wins for the first time this season when the host Georgetown Friday night in Memorial Center. The Lady Bucs hold a 2-0 lead in this short series against the Big East foe.

 

This game marks just the third time these programs will meet, and the first time they will match up in exactly 22 years. The Lady Bucs have won both meetings as ETSU defeated Georgetown, 68-66 in their last game on Nov. 24, 1984. ETSU also beat the Hoyas in the Virginia Tech Tournament, 77-66, on Feb. 1, 1980. Georgetown will making its first-ever trip to Memorial Center.

 

The Lady Bucs are coming off their first win of the season as they defeated Appalachian State 104-87 Tuesday evening in Memorial Center. The 104 points rank fifth in ETSU history, and were the most points scored since Jan. 8, 2001 when they poured in 101 against also against the Mountaineers. The Lady Bucs had five players finish in double figures with freshman Siarre Evans (Griffin, Ga.) leading the way with a career-high 29 points and 12 rebounds.

 

Tip is set for 7 p.m. with this being the last time fans can see the Lady Bucs in action at Memorial Center until Dec. 20 as ETSU hits the road for five straight games.
