Tarter earned the honor after averaging 19.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 4.0 steals, and 3.0 assists per game in a pair of ETSU wins this past week to begin conference play. The local product scored a game-high 21 points and grabbed four rebounds in a thrilling, 73-72, victory at Furman on Saturday to kick off SoCon play. The guard followed this stellar performance with a game-best 18 points as well as a season-high six steals and five rebounds in a dominant, 79-47, win at Wofford on Monday to allow the Bucs to move to 2-0 to begin league action.

The award winner leads all SoCon freshmen in scoring at 13.5 points per game, while ranking second among all SoCon players in assists at 3.8 per game. The rookie is also third in the conference with 40% shooting from three-point range this season and has a 1.1 assist-to-turnover ratio which is fourth best in the league.

This award is the third this season for the Johnson City native.
