Senior averaged double-double of 13 points and 10 rebounds in a pair of ETSU wins
SPARTANBURG, S.C. (Feb. 10, 2015) – Following being an integral component in two ETSU victories over the past week, redshirt senior forward Serena Clark (Stone Mountain, Ga.) has been named the Southern Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, as announced Tuesday by the league office.
In games from Feb. 7 – 9, Clark averaged a double-double of 13.0 points and 10.0 rebounds which aided in helping the Bucs move to 8-1 in SoCon play. In a 63-60 victory at Western Carolina on Feb. 7, the veteran recorded her seventh double-double of the season and 20th of her career with 16 points and a game-best 14 rebounds. The forward followed this stellar performance with another solid showing with 10 points, six rebounds, and a game-high four blocks in a 72-61 home victory versus Furman on Feb. 9.
The Georgia native is currently second in the SoCon with seven double-doubles this season and is currently third in the league in rebounding at 8.7 per game. Clark also shoots the ball from the field at a 53 percent clip and is fourth in the league with 1.6 blocks per contest.
This is the first conference weekly honor for Clark during her three-year ETSU career.
The Bucs will continue SoCon play in Johnson City when it welcomes Western Carolina to Freedom Hall for the first game of a women’s and men’s basketball double-header on Saturday, Feb. 14, at 1 p.m. The contest will also be the Bucs’ annual “Play 4Kay: Think Pink” game and will be broadcasted on ESPN3.
