April 16 event geared toward students and all interested parties

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (April 13, 2015) – ETSU women’s basketball head coach Brittney Ezell will be one of six speakers at the ETSU “Be Money Smart” event Thursday, April 16, inside Sherrod Library -- Room 309 -- from 1 – 4 p.m.

With April being “Financial Literacy” month, the University has partnered with the Federal Reserve Bank and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, as well as the American Library Association, in an initiative to promote financial literacy among the public. The Sherrod Library-hosted half-day series is geared primarily towards both undergraduate and graduate students, as well as all interested parties.

Ezell will be the first speaker of the event at approximately 1:05 p.m. and will present on the topic of “Ultimate Goals vs. Instant Gratification.” Presentations from qualified professionals will continue until roughly 4 o’clock. Attendees will have the opportunity to win door prizes and will be treated to light refreshments. See the event flyer here.

"I'm not a financial guru by any stretch of the imagination,” said Ezell, “and I don't claim to have all the answers about the management of money, but I do know about sacrifice, goal setting and avoiding instant gratification in decision making.”

“All of those principles serve people well in a multitude of life's disciplines, including financial management. I'm looking forward to helping our students grow and to encourage them in an area of their lives that can be intimidating and confusing as they prepare to face the world after college."
