ETSU Cross Country runs well against tough competition

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (October 3, 2015) - At the Greater Louisville Classic on Saturday morning the ETSU cross country program competed against multiple national and regionally ranked competition. The women's team finished 15th while the men's team came in 22nd overall. 

In the early morning men's race the Bucs were paced for the third straight week by junior Simeon Roberts who came in with a time of 25:19.14 and 95th overall of nearly 220 runners. Coming in second for ETSU was David "Skyler" Winchester with a time of 25:45.24 placing 127th overall. Rounding out the top five for the Blue & Gold was freshman James Garst followed by sophmore Hayden Borghetti-Metz and sophomore Daniel Sonnenfeldt.

Overall facing multiple national and regional opponets the Bucs finished 22nd out of 24 teams. Nationally ranked Iona won the event totaling 51 points, edging Michigan who came in second place.

On the women's side the junior Victoria Hutchens came in first for the Bucs with a time of 18:43.36 and 39th overall out of over 280 runners. Not far behind was sophomore Sarah Zimmer who ran a time of 19:10.83 and finished 81st overall. Rounding out the ETSU top five was junior Sarah Fletcher with a time of 19:18.79 followed by sophomore Macy Carrier and Alexa Zimmerman.

The Bucs finished in the top half of the 33 teams competiting as the Bucs finished 15th with a total score of 490. West Virginia won the meet with a total score of 32.
