Johnson City, Tenn. -- The East Tennessee State women's golf team is in 18th place after the first round of the the largest tournament in the United States, the Unlimited Potential/Bay Tree Classic in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
The tournament field includes 32 teams, the largest group of any women's golf tournament this season.
Leading the Bucs is senior Catalina Zuluaga, who is in a tie for 29th after firing an opening round 79. Fellow senior Mimmie Dymling is eight shots off the lead after shooting a first-round 81. Freshman Alysa Few is in a tie for 64th after her first-round 82. Sophomore Kristen Fletcher shot a first-round 85 to finish the day in a tie for 102nd. Freshman Danielle O'Reilly rounded out the Bucs day as she finished in a tie for 125th after shooting a first-round 88.
ETSU is 22 shots behind team leader, East Carolina. Zuluaga is six shots behin individual leader Mai Sugiyama of East Carolina.
The Bucs will return to action Saturday with a fixed tee format before a shotgun start begins the third round Sunday.
