STOCKBRIDGE, Ga. (April 2, 2007) - Firing a team score of 309, the ETSU women's golf team struggled on the opening day of the John Kirk/Lady Panther Intercollegiate, finishing tied for 12th on the team leaderboard Monday at the Eagles Landing Country Club.

Freshman Sinead O'Sullivan (Galway, Ireland) and junior Maria Ringdahl (Oland, Sweden) posted the top scores for ETSU, finishing tied for 26th with identical scores of 4-over 76. Meanwhile, Maryland posted a score of 283 and leads the team competition by eight strokes over East Carolina. Individually, Memphis' Stacey Tate and Jacksonville State's Manuela Tarazona finished tied atop the individual leaderboard at 4-under-par 68.

"We were really encouraged after our second place finish last week at the UNCW event, but this was not the same kind of performance," said ETSU head coach Stefanie Reynolds. "We want to get back out there Tuesday and post a quality score. We know we're capable of that."

Other ETSU results included a tie for 50th by sophomore Lucy Gould (Bargoed, Wales) and a tie for 54th by freshman Laura Jansone (Jurmala, Latvia).
