GREENSBORO, N.C. (Oct. 13, 2008) - Junior Sinead O'Sullivan (Galway, Ireland) fired a 2-over-par 74 and currently stands tied for sixth on the individual leaderboard, powering the ETSU women's golf team to a tie for sixth in the team standings after second round play in the UNCA-Starmount Fall Classic Monday at the Starmount Country Club.
The Buccaneers ended the day ahead of teams such as Mississippi State, South Florida and Miami, but are now several strokes back of team leader and host UNC-Greensboro. The Spartans lead second place East Carolina by two strokes.
Individually, O'Sullivan is four strokes back of individual leader Abby Bools of East Carolina, who stands at 1-over-par for the event.
"It was not a really good day for us, but we're still tied for sixth and Sinead was solid again," said ETSU head coach Stefanie Shelton. "Tomorrow we need a big day from the rest of our team, and not just Sinead. We're ahead of several strong teams, but we would like to finish ahead of a few more with a strong third round."
Along with O'Sullivan, junior Kennie Leigh Eisenhower (Newport) is tied for 33rd, while freshman Mayte Vizcarrondo (Cadiz, Spain) is tied for 43rd.
The Bucs will continue play with third round action scheduled for Tuesday. Fans can watch live scoring by visiting Golfstat.com, or read a complete wrap up of the day's play at ETSUBucs.com.
