ETSU women's golf to open season this weekend at Sea Trail Women's Invitational
Thursday, September 18, 2008

SUNSET BEACH, N.C. (Sept. 18, 2008) - After an historic 2007-08 season in which the ETSU women's golf team captured the program's first-ever conference title and berth in the NCAA Championships, the Buccaneers will open their 2008-09 campaign this weekend at the Sea Trail Women's Invitational with plenty of enthusiasm and optimism.

The Bucs, led by head coach Stefanie Shelton in her seventh season, will return a bevy of talented players, including 2008 Atlantic Sun Conference individual champion Laura Jansone (Jurmala, Latvia). A year ago, the rising junior led the team in stroke average, while senior Lucy Gould (Bargoed, Wales) and junior Sinead O'Sullivan (Galway, Ireland) both return after finishing in the Top 5 on the squad for stroke average.

While junior Kennie Leigh Eisenhower (Newport, Tenn.) also returns this season, true freshmen Malin Mansson (Kalmar, Sweden) and Mayte Vizcarrondo (Cadiz, Spain) are also expected to contribute early on in the campaign.
