AUGUSTA, Ga. (March 13, 3015) – ETSU sophomore Rachel Pollock (Guelph, Ontario, Canada) carded a team-best round of 4-over-par 75 during Friday’s first round play in the 3M Jaguar Intercollegiate at the Forest Hills Golf Club.

Finishing the day tied for 13th on the individual leaderboard, Pollock was one of two ETSU players to post rounds in the 70s during the opening round, as junior teammate Vivienne Chin (Kota KInabalu, Sabah Malaysia) ended the day at 6-over 77 to finish tied for 13th.

Pollock said conditions were not ideal.

“The weather wasn’t great out there today, but instead of dwelling on it, I looked at it as a challenge,” Pollock said. “I stayed very patient, stuck to my game plan and things turned out well. I had a lot of confidence in my swing and I’m looking forward to getting back out there tomorrow.”

As a team, the Bucs are currently 10th on the team leaderboard after ending the day with a score of 314. Former Atlantic Sun Conference rival Kennesaw State leads the team competition following a round of 296, ending the day two strokes better than host GRU Augusta.

Along with Pollock and Chin, other ETSU results included a tie for 53rd by freshmen Allyson Dunn (Kingsport, Tenn.) and Dominika Czudkova (Cesky Tesin, Czech Republic), while sophomore Linda Dobele (Ogre, Latvia) is tied for 59th.

The Bucs will continue with second round play on Saturday, while third and final round action is set for Sunday.
