Pinehurst, N.C. (Oct. 13, 2015) – The ETSU women’s golf team finished the final round at the Pinehurst Challenge by shooting a 290 and finished with a 875 score in the two-day tournament on Tuesday. The Bucs again improved today by jumping up three spots while finishing tied for 6th with William & Mary.

Vivienne Chin (Kota Kinabalu, Sabah Malaysia) again led the team by shooting a 69, which was a stroke away from matching her second round score. She finished the overall tournament with a -6 while placing tied for 3rd individually. Chin carded four birdies on the last day and scored a birdie on hole two in every round.

“We are so proud of Vivienne’s 3rd place finish with her best collegiate score of 6 under. She really turned it on the last two rounds and seemed determined to score and earn some hardware,” said head coach Stefanie Shelton.

Linda Dobele (Ogre, Latvia) shot very well today as she went -1 on the front nine and ended at +1 in the third round. In the last two rounds, she shot just +3. Hee Ying Loy (Baru, Kulaijaya, Malaysia) and Dominka Czudkova (Cesky Tesin, Czech Republic) each shot two over par on the last day. Loy finished with a +2 in the tournament and was tied for 20th individually.

The Bucs outmatched several strong power teams today including tournament host College of Charleston, Nebraska, and Penn State. Charleston shot +19 over in the tournament, while Nebraska and Penn State finished +19 and +18, respectively.

East Carolina came away with the tournament win after shooting seven under in the whole tournament. Their best score came in the second round as they finished with a 283. Maryland made the biggest jump on the final day. They moved up six places to fourth by shooting -3 in the third round.

The Bucs will finish their fall schedule as they travel to Kiawah Island, S.C. on Oct. 25-27.
