Former Buc Jansone in top-4 after first round at Omega Dubai Ladies Masters

DUBAI, UAE (Dec. 8, 2016) – Former ETSU women’s golfer, Laura Jansone (Jurmala, Latvia), is currently tied for fourth on Thursday after carding a 69 in the first round at the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters at the Emirates Golf Club.

A graduate of ETSU in 2010, Jansone tied her professional-best round at 3-under 69. She has recorded a 3-under, 69, seven times professionally including three outings in 2016.

The Latvian native is in a six-way tie for fourth as she sank four birdies including two birdies on par-five holes. Jansone even recorded two birdies in a span of three holes on the back nine at the Emirates Golf Club.

While at ETSU, Jansone finished in first place twice at the Atlantic Sun Conference Championships. She also placed atop of the leaderboards her junior year at the Sea Trail Intercollegiate. She also finished in second place in three events during her career at ETSU: the A-Sun Championship in 2006, The Lady Paladin in 2007, and the UNCW Seahawk Classic in 2009.

Jansone is scheduled to tee off day two tomorrow at 8:35 a.m. on hole one, and she is paired with Carmen Alonso of Spain and Louise Stahle of Sweden.
