WOLCOTT, Colo. (Sept. 24, 2019) -- ETSU’s Tereza Melecka (Belcovice, Czech Republic) remains in contention following 36 holes at the Golfweek Conference Challenge.
For the second straight tournament, Melecka will enter the final round with a chance to collect her second collegiate win after registering a score below par for the second consecutive day at the Red Sky Golf Club.
On Tuesday, Melecka carded a 1-under 71 and sits tied for third-place at 6-under-par 138 for the tournament, which is only two shots off the lead. Melecka, who has totaled 22 pars and 10 birdies over the first two days, has combined to play the par-4 and par-5 holes at seven-under-par. Over a six-hole stretch on Tuesday, Melecka posted four birdies – giving her the lead at seven-under – however, she dropped a stroke with a bogey on the par-3, No. 7 to finish the round with a 71.
Ole Miss’ Andrea Lignell birdied her final hole to take the outright lead at 8-under-par 136. Lignell holds a one-stroke advantage over Denver’s Anna Zanusso, while Melecka is one of four golfers tied for third.
As a team, Ole Miss went low to grab a commanding 12-shot lead over tournament host and No. 21 Denver. The 25th-ranked Rebels fired an 8-under 280 on Tuesday and enter Wednesday’s final round at 15-under-par 561.
The Bucs climbed a spot and sit at 17th with a two-day total of 624.
Redshirt sophomore Warda Rawof (Kuala Lampur, Malaysia) moved up 10 spots into a tie for 45th (+6) after posting a 2-over 74. Rawof was four-over thru her first 11, but birdied two of her final seven holes to finish with some momentum.
Wednesday’s final round will begin with a shotgun start beginning at 11 a.m. ET. The Bucs will be grouped with UC Riverside and a group of individual golfers.
