KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. (Oct. 14, 2019) -- The ETSU women’s golf team completed second round play at the Palmetto Intercollegiate on Monday form Turtle Point Golf Course.
The Blue and Gold were led by sophomore Warda Amira Rawof (Kuala Lampur, Malaysia) and junior Kornbongkoat Sararat (Nongkhai, Thailand) as the Buccaneer duo both posted a 1-over 73 on Monday.
Rawof moved four spots up the leaderboard into a tie for 30th as she totaled a 3-over-par 147 thru the first 36 holes. The Buccaneer sophomore carded back-to-back birdies on No. 14 & 15 to end the afternoon on a positive note. Sararat climbed 24 spaces up the board following her 73 as she is now tied for 65th. Sararat was 1-under thru 10 and collected consecutive birdies on No. 16 & 17 before ending the day with a bogey on the par-4, No. 18.
Junior Tereza Melecka (Belcovice, Czech Republic) still leads ETSU as she is tied for 20th at 2-over-par 146.
Troy’s Nicole Lorup went low on Monday as she fired a 7-under 65 to jump 13 spots into sole possession of the lead at 7-under-par 137. Lorup enters the final round with a one-shot lead over Coastal Carolina’s Jenjira Jinangkul and Fresno State’s Brigitte Thibault.
Coastal Carolina and Fresno State hold a share of the team lead at 1-under-par 575. Coastal Carolina went low with an 8-under 280, while Fresno State posted a 2-under 286. North Florida, the day one leader, and Troy are both one shot back in third-place.
ETSU, who has a two-day total of 603, is in 16th-place of the 22-team field.
Tuesday’s final round gets underway with a shotgun start beginning at 8:30 a.m.
