KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. (Oct. 15, 2019) -- ETSU’s Tereza Melecka (Belcovice, Czech Republic) posted a top-25 finish at the Palmetto Intercollegiate, which concluded play on Tuesday afternoon at Turtle Point Golf Course.
Melecka, who had an up-and-down final round, recorded five birdies, seven pars and six bogeys en route to finishing with a 73. Overall, Melecka finished the tournament tied for 23rd at 3-over-par 219 (70-76-73). Melecka tallied 13 birdies over the three-day, 54-hole tournament, which were tied for the third-most in the field.
Troy’s Nicole Lorup held on to earn medalist honors after finishing at 9-under-par 207. Lorup registered a 2-under 70 on Tuesday and won by three shots over Fresno State’s Brigitte Thibault and by four strokes over Old Dominion’s Jana Melichova.
College of Charleston, the tournament host, defended its title after edging out Coastal Carolina by one stroke, finishing at even-par 864. The Cougars were just one of two teams to shoot below par on Tuesday after carding a 3-under 285 to move up four spots for the team win.
The Buccaneers were tied for 16th with a team score of 907.
Warda Amira Rawof (Kuala Lampur, Malaysia) finished tied for 48th (+8), while Kornbongkoat Sararat (Nongkhai, Thailand) tied for 63rd and Rimsha Ijaz (Lahore, Pakistan) tied for 84th.
ETSU wraps up its fall season at the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown, which begins Sunday Oct. 27.
