SPARTANBURG, S.C. (Oct. 25, 2020) – The ETSU women’s golf team will make its fall debut this week as the Buccaneers head to The Palmetto State to play in the Terrier Intercollegiate, which begins Monday at the Country Club of Spartanburg.

  • This marks the Bucs’ first competition since March 10 when the Blue and Gold placed third at the River Landing Classic … Following that tournament, the remainder of the spring 2020 season was cancelled due to the coronavirus.
  • At that tournament, senior Tereza Melecka (Belcovice, Czech Republic) captured her second win of the season (third career) after finishing with a score of even-par 216 …  Melecka, who also won at the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown last fall, ranked second in the SoCon with a scoring average of 72.00 … Melecka currently ranks 70th in the World Amateur Golf Rankings.
  • Melecka is one of three returners for the Bucs this season as she’s joined by seniors Warda Amira Rawof (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia) and Kornbongkoat Sararat (Nongkhai, Thailand) … Rawof was second on the team in scoring average last season (75.33), which ranked in the top-15 in the SoCon … Sararat finished tied for third in her last collegiate tournament at the River Landing Classic, marking her best finish as a Buccaneer.
  • The Bucs have four new faces on their roster this 2020-21 season as head coach Stefanie Shelton brought in grad transfers Julia Goodson (Kent State) and Blanca Porta (USC Beaufort), along with freshmen Grace Chin and Elle Willis.

  • The teams will play 54 holes over the two-day tournament with 36 holes being contested on Monday and the final 18 on Tuesday.
  • Monday’s format will feature teams teeing off from split tees beginning at 9 a.m.
  • The course plays 6,012 yards and is par-72.
  • Teams will be paired with their own teammates.

Joining the Bucs this week in Spartanburg includes tournament host Wofford, along with Appalachian State, The Citadel, Coastal Carolina and Chattanooga.

  • The Bucs’ lineup is made up of #1 Tereza Melecka, #2 Warda Amira Rawof, #3 Grace Chin, #4 Julia Goodson and #5 Blanca Porta
  • Kornbongkoat Sararat and Elle Willis will play as individuals.
