EATONTON, Ga. (Feb. 19, 2021) – Led by the stellar play of Tereza Melecka (Belcovice, Czech Republic), the ETSU women’s golf team concluded opening round play from the Reynolds Lake Oconee Invitational on Friday from the Great Waters Course.
Melecka sits three shots off the lead after carding a 1-over-par 73 in the Bucs’ first round of the spring season. The Buccaneer leader totaled three birdies, 11 pars and four bogeys on her scorecard, while capitalizing on the par-4s and par-5s. Melecka was even-par on the par-4s and 1-under on the par-5s.
Fellow Buccaneer Warda Amira Rawof (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia) led all golfers in the 88-player field in par-3 scoring where she was 2-under en route to posting a 2-over 74, placing her tied for 11th.
The field is chasing host Mercer both on the team and individual leaderboards. Payton Schanen posted a 2-under 70, which is good for a two-stroke lead over Old Dominion’s Noemie Sudron, while Melecka is one of eight golfers tied for third at 1-over 73.
As a team, Mercer registered a 9-over-par 297, putting them one shot ahead of ODU and five shots better than third-place North Florida.
