EATONTON, Ga. (Feb. 20, 2021) – The ETSU women’s golf team wrapped up second round play at the Reynolds Lake Oconee Invitational on Saturday afternoon from the Great Waters Course.
Tereza Melecka (Belcovice, Czech Republic), who led the Blue and Gold for the second straight day, remained in the top-10 as she’s currently tied for seventh at 5-over-par 149. On a day where only one golfer posted a score below-par, Melecka carded a 4-over 76. After playing the front nine at three-over, the Buccaneer leader featured a strong showing on the back nine – finishing one-over par – following her lone birdie on the par-3, 143-yard No. 17.
Mercer’s Payton Schanen remained atop the leaderboard at 2-under-par 142. Schanen posted an even-par 72, while Tulane’s Carlota Palacios was the only golfer in the 88-player field to post a score below par on Saturday, as she carded a 1-under 71 en route to moving into a tie for second at 1-over-par 145.
Old Dominion jumped into the team lead as they recorded a 17-over 305 on Saturday and sits 27-over-par 603 for the tournament. ODU enters Sunday’s final round with a three-shot lead over Mercer and Kennesaw State – who are both tied for second at 30-over-par 606.
The Bucs moved to seventh-place following their team score of 314 on Saturday. After two rounds, ETSU is 42-over-par 618, which leads in-state rivals MTSU (+43) and Chattanooga (+60), along with Big Ten foe Wisconsin (+44).
Blanca Porta, playing as individual, posted a 5-over 77 on Saturday and moved into a tie for 28th with teammate Grace Chin at 11-over-par 155.
Sunday’s final round is schedule to get underway Sunday at 9 a.m.
