KENNESAW, Ga. (Mar. 21, 2022) – The ETSU women’s golf team had a strong first day at the Pinetree Women’s Collegiate. The Blue & Gold go into the final round of the tournament tied for third place.
In today’s first round, the Bucs had five players finish in the Top-50 of players. Sophie Bert (Deurle, Belgium) and Sera Hasegawa (Gifu, Japan) tied for seventh place, carding two-over-par. Hollie Muse (Liverpool, England) and Grace Chin (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia) finished the first round tied at 36th place, carding a seven-over-par. Ellie Darnell (Kettering, Northamptonshire, England) tied for 43rd place, carding eight-over-par. As a unit, ETSU ended the first round in third place with 18-over-par (296).
Round two continued to go well for the Bucs as the team finished the day still tied for third place, carding 29-over-par (605).
Individually, four Bucs ended the day in the Top-50 player leaderboard. Hasegawa ended the day in ninth place after carding a three-over-par (147). Muse rocketed up to tied tenth with six-over-par (150). Muse achieved this with six birdies on holes two, four, 11, 13, 16, and 18. Bert ends the day tied for 12th place with seven-over-par (151). Finally, Chin ends the day tied for 43rd after carding a 13-over-par (157).
The host, Kennesaw State, leads the tournament with 11-over-par (587). The top three teams are rounded out by Xavier with 24-over-par (600), ETSU, and Northern Illinois. Both ETSU and Northern Illinois finished with 29-over-par (605).
Bella Kil of Kennesaw State currently leads all players after finishing the day four-under-par (140). Kil is followed by; Minori Nagano of Seminole state with three-under-par (141) and Jasmine Ly of Northern Illinois with two-under-par (142).
ETSU concludes the final day of the Pinetree Women’s Collegiate tomorrow starting at 9:40 a.m. The Bucs take the field with Kennesaw State and Xavier. Fans are encouraged to follow along as live stats will be provided by Golfstat.
