Bert tied for 5th (-2) after opening round

WOLCOTT, Colo. (Sept. 26, 2022) – The ETSU women’s golf team concluded first round play in the Golfweek Red Sky Classic from the Fazio Course in Wolcott, Colorado on Monday.

Sophomore Sophie Bert (Deurle, Belgium) is tied for fifth at 2-under-par 70 after closing round one with back-to-back birdies. She finished with five birdies – three of which came on the back nine.

Behind Bert are teammates Hollie Muse (Liverpool, England) and Amber Thornton (Canberra, Australia) at 1-over-par 73 to crack the top 30. Muse finished even on the back nine, while Thornton broke even on the front nine with a pair of birdies.

ETSU sits in ninth place among the 20-team field at 3-over-par 291. Pepperdine sits atop the leaderboard just six strokes ahead at 3-under-par 285. 

The Bucs will go out at 10:00 a.m. in Tuesday’s second round as ETSU is grouped with Little Rock, Eastern Michigan and Rutgers.
