WOLCOTT, Colo. (Sept. 27, 2022) – ETSU women’s golf sophomore Sophie Bert (Deurle, Belgium) remains in the top five following Tuesday’s second round play of the Golfweek Red Sky Classic, held at the Fazio Course in Wolcott, Colo.
Bert carded a 1-under-par 71 to remain tied for fifth place, sitting 3-under-par 141 through 36 holes of competition. Bert started the day strong, making birdies on holes three, four and eight to take the lead and make the turn with a 2-under-par 34. Bert birded the 12th hole to get to 3-under-par on the day but stumbled with a double-bogey on Hole 13 and bogey on Hole 14. Bert closed the day with a birdie on Hole 18.
On the team leaderboard, ETSU moved up one spot into eighth place among the 20-team field with a 14-over-par 590. Pepperdine remains atop the leaderboard at 12-under-par 564.
The Bucs will have a shotgun start tomorrow at 9:15 a.m. in Wednesday’s third round. ETSU is grouped with Washington State, New Mexico State and fellow SoCon member Mercer.
