 ETSU women’s golf uses four-player lineup for first round

MEDINAH, Ill. (Oct. 10, 2022) – The ETSU women’s golf team opened play at the Illini Women’s Invitational at Medinah on Monday in Illinois, playing without the services of one of its top players due to injury.

ETSU’s No. 1 in the lineup, Sophie Bert (Deurle, Belgium), withdrew before finishing the front nine. The Bucs currently sit in 15th place with a score of 605 through two rounds.

San Jose State sits atop the team leaderboard at 551 with Kentucky trailing by one. Texas Tech and Alabama are tied for third at 556, with Alabama’s Sarah Edwards leading the tournament at 11-under-par 133 (66-67).

Amber Thornton (Canberra, Australia) led the Bucs with a 1-over-par 145 (72-73) in the first two rounds Monday. Hollie Muse (Liverpool, England) made the biggest improvement from round one to round two shooting 78 in round one and a 3-under-par 69 in round two.

The Bucs will have a shotgun start tomorrow at 9:00 a.m. in Tuesday’s final round. Fans can follow live scoring via Golfstat.
