Bucs in third through two rounds at River Landing Classic

WALLACE, N.C. (March 13, 2023) – The ETSU women’s golf team concluded day one of the River Landing Classic in Wallace, N.C. and sit within striking distance of the top spot, heading into the final round tied for third place after 36 holes.

The Bucs opened the tournament with a first round 14-over-par 302 and improved by three strokes in the second round with an 11-over-par 299. ETSU (601) trails leader James Madison by 14 strokes (587) and tournament host UNC Wilmington by nine strokes (592). ETSU’s playing partners today, Elon and High Point, are also in third at 601.

Appearing for the first time since the fall, sophomore Sophie Bert (Deurle, Belgium) led the Bucs on day one shooting a consistent 4-over-par 148 (74-74) through 36 holes. She sits in a tie for 8th place, followed closely by sophomore teammate Alex Crafton (Lake Mary, Fla.) shooting a 5-over-par 149 (73-76) to sit at T-10.

Senior Hollie Muse (Liverpool, England) had the biggest improvement from round one to round two for the Bucs. Muse followed her opening round 77 with second round 1-over-par 73 to sit in a tie for 14th place.

Yanjun Liu of Princeton sits atop the individual leaderboard at 3-under-par.

ETSU will tee off tomorrow morning at 9 a.m. to open the final round of competition.
