Tournament held at Council Fire Golf Club Sunday-Tuesday

CHATTANOOGA, TENN. (April 4,2023) – Making its final tune up before the Southern Conference Championship, the ETSU women’s golf team wrapped up competition at the Chattanooga Classic on Tuesday afternoon from Council Fire Golf Club.

Senior Hollie Muse (Liverpool, England) led the Buccaneers as she finished tied for 10th among 96 competitors. With three birdies on the front nine on the front nine on Tuesday, Muse shot a 1-under-par 71 in the final round. Muse improved by one stroke each round to finish with an even-par 216 score for the three-day, 54-hole tournament.

Grace Chin (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia) and Amber Thornton (Canberra Australia) both moved up four spots on the leaderboard in the final round of competition. The Buccaneer duo finished tied for 50th – both totaling a score of 12-over-par 228.

As a team, the Buccaneers finished 12th with a 39-over-par 903.

SMU, the lone team to score below par for the tournament, finished first at 14-under-par 850. The 28th-ranked Mustangs won by 20 shots over Xavier.

Xavier’s Emma McMyler earned medalist honors as she won by two strokes with a 54-hole score of 9-under-par 207. SMU’s Michelle Zhang made a charge on Tuesday as she went low with an 8-under 64 to finish runner-up at 7-under-par 209.

The Buccaneers take the course again April 16-18 when they travel to Hilton Head, S.C. for the Southern Conference Championship.
