Johnson City, Tenn.-- The East Tennessee State women's soccer team (1-4-1, 0-2 SoCon) was defeated by the College of Charleston Cougars (1-3-1, 1-1 SoCon) 5-0 at the Liberty Bell Soccer Complex.
The Cougars dominated the game from the start. Most of the first half was played on the Bucs' side of the field. Charleston's first goal came 22 minutes into the game when Jenn Grillo connected with a penalty kick to put them up 0-1. The Bucs would keep Charleston from scoring for rest of the first half.
Just three minutes into the second half, Charleston's Lindsay Dorio hit a header from Marcy Crenshaw. Dorio would score again at the 53 minute mark with an assist from Becca Eddy to make the score 0-3. Then Eddy would score twice herself and both times with the assist from Tessa Morrell.
ETSU's goalkeeper Heather Sanden played 90 minutes, face 26 shots, saved it six times and was scored upon five times. Sophomore Andrea Brown and junior Elizabeth Smith each had three shots in the game.
The East Tennessee State soccer team will their five-game road trip by travelling to Asheville, N.C. to face the UNC-Asheville Bulldogs on Tuesday, Sept. 25 at 4:00 p.m.
