BUIES CREEK, N.C. (October 14, 2006) - The ETSU women's soccer team fell to the Campbell Camels, 1-0 on Saturday afternoon. The Bucs fall to 3-8-3 overall (2-3-2) while the Camels improve to 2-11-0 (2-6-0).

ETSU and Campbell fought for the early lead with the Bucs out shooting the Camels 6-3 in the first period. The Camels defense however, managed to hold off the ETSU attack as Samar Azem made fours saves in a scoreless first half.

In the second period, ETSU and Campbell continued to battle it out during the second half when Campbell's Kaili Terry headed the ball past goalkeeper Erin Bilyeu (Murfreesboro, Tenn.) on a corner kick from Ellen Payne in the 47th minute.

The goal would prove to be the game winner as the Bucs attacking attempts where thwarted by the Camel defense.

"We had some great opportunities but we were just unable to convert on our scoring opportunities. We worked hard to create them, but we just didn't put them away," said head coach Heather Henson. "They did a good job defensively on us and on the attack they had some opportunities and they were able to convert on a corner kick."

Senior Emily Fulcher (New Bern, N.C.) led the Bucs with three shots, while seven other Bucs contributed on the attack. ETSU out shot Campbell, 10-9.

"Offensively, we have to put balls in the back of the net and step up to that next level so we can keep moving in the direction we want to go in the conference. We battled hard through the end of the game and we just didn't take care of our scoring opportunities," added Henson.

The Bucs return home for their final three home games of the season as they take on the Belmont Bruins on Friday, October 20. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at the Liberty Bell Soccer Complex.
