DeLAND, Fla. (September 24, 2006) - Injuries continue to plague the Bucs as the ETSU women's soccer team fell to the Stetson Hatters in a grueling 2-0 decision at the Stetson Soccer Field. The Bucs fall to 1-6-2 overall and 0-1-1 in the A-Sun while the Hatters move to 4-5-1 overall and 1-0-1 in the conference.

In the first half, both teams fought intensely for the lead, but it was Stetson who found the back of the net as Julianne Turnball's corner kick was headed by Kelsey Kramer to Bethany Kiedis for the score.

The Buccaneer defense then tightened its hold, making three saves and was able to go into half time trailing 1-0.

In the second, ETSU continued to fight, but the Hatters scored one more time as Turnball's corner kick was headed into the crossbar by Kramer. Noelle Tyre then netted her first goal of the season on the rebound.

"When we possessed the ball we did a very good job. We didn't take enough shots in the final third and we didn't win the second chances on the balls in the air. Those are the two areas of the game that really cost us," said head coach Heather Henson. "

Freshman Jordan Monty (Dallas, Texas) led the Bucs with two shots on the day and junior Adrian Mobley (Framingham, Mass.) tallied one. On the game, the corner kicks were nearly even as the Bucs forced five corners to Stetson's seven. Stetson also led the way in fouls, 14-6, making for a very physical contest.

The Bucs return to Johnson City for a three-game home stand as they face North Florida on Thursday, September 28 and Jacksonville on Saturday, September 30. ETSU will then square off against Kennesaw State on Saturday, October 7. Kick-off for Thursday night's match against North Florida is set for 7:00 p.m.
