Women's soccer host Morehead State in home opener, Sunday
Saturday, August 30, 2008

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (August 29, 2008) -After picking up a victory in its season opener, the ETSU women's soccer team looks to continue its winning ways as the Bucs host the Morehead State Eagles, with a 2 p.m., Sunday contest at Summers-Taylor Stadium.

ETSU enters the contest with a 1-0 overall record, after defeating UNC Asheville on the road 1-0 last Sunday. The Bucs opened the scoring in that contest after junior forward Jordan Monty (Mesquite, Texas) took advantage of a Bulldog turnover and fired home the game-winning goal from around 10 yards out. Monty was not the only Buc to shine as ETSU's back four defenders; along with redshirt freshman goalkeeper Megan Masch (Virginia Beach, Va.), limited an explosive offensive attack by the Bulldogs to eight shots and no goals.

Morehead State enters the contest with a 0-1 overall record, after dropping its season opener to Miami (Ohio) 3-1, last Friday. The Eagles bring a young squad to the Tri-Cities with 17 of its players being underclassmen, including sophomore Bethany Davidson who has lone MSU goal. Morehead State hopes to continue to gain experience before Sunday's match, as the Eagles play at Western Kentucky, Friday.
