SPARTANBURG, S.C. (Sept. 9, 2014) – For the second time in three weeks, ETSU forward Simona Koren (Graz, Austria) has been named the Southern Conference women’s soccer player of the week, for all competition from Sept. 1-7. The selection is made by the league office.

Koren scored 14 points on six goals and two assists as the Bucs rolled to a 6-1 win over South Carolina State on Sept. 2 and a 12-0 win over Alabama A&M on Thursday to remain perfect on the season.

Against South Carolina State, the Graz, Austria, native scored twice and added an assist. Two days later, the sophomore notched four first-half goals and an assist in the win over Alabama A&M. Koren had a hat trick within the first 11 minutes of the contest and did all of her damage in just 35 minutes of play.

Her four goals matched the SoCon’s single-match record, making her the 10th player in league history to accomplish that feat.

Koren’s selection gives the Bucs three straight SoCon players of the week to open the 2014 campaign, a first in school history. Koren’s teammate Hannah Short (Bristol, England) took the honor on Sept. 2.

ETSU (6-0) will put its undefeated record on the line this weekend in Washington, D.C., where it will face George Washington on Friday and Howard on Sunday.

Also nominated: Naomi Carter (The Citadel), India Robinson (Furman) and Amanda Abbott (Samford).
