Zadrazil tabbed POTW after helping Bucs claim first place in SoCon standings

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (Oct. 7, 2014) – ETSU midfielder Sarah Zadrazil (St. Gilgen, Austria) has been named the Southern Conference women’s soccer player of the week for all competition from Sept. 29 to Oct. 5. The selection is made by the league office.

Zadrazil, who was the Atlantic Sun Conference Player of the Year in 2013, accumulated nine points on three goals and three assists as the Bucs went 2-0 in SoCon play last week.

Against Samford on Friday, Zadrazil scored a pair of goals in the 3-1 win. The junior from St. Gilgen, Austria, opened the scoring in the 47th minute and added another goal, her fifth of the season, in the 56th.

In ETSU’s 5-1 win over Chattanooga on Sunday, Zadrazil scored a goal and dished out three assists to claim the national assist lead from teammate Jasmin Dutton. Zadrazil now has 13 on the year, a career best and single-season school record.

Zadrazil now has 25 points on the season on six goals and the 13 assists, good for second in the SoCon behind teammate Hannah Short (40).

With the pair of wins, the Bucs claimed sole possession of the top spot in the SoCon standings at 11-3-0 overall and 3-1-0 in league play. ETSU will face second-place Mercer (7-4-2, 2-0-2 SoCon) in Macon, Ga., on Friday at 7 p.m.

Also nominated: Naomi Carter (The Citadel), Maggie Cropp (Mercer), Jermaine Seoposenwe (Samford), Courtney Rosu (Western Carolina) and Faith Lifer (Wofford).
