JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (May, 16, 2015) – Adding to the Bucs’ incoming recruiting class, ETSU Women’s Soccer Head Coach Adam Sayers has announced the signing of in-state standout Delaney Griffin (Franklin, Tenn.).

Griffin, a forward and two-year letter winner at Franklin High School, scored 18 goals and had 10 assists, helping lead the Lady Rebels to a Class AAA Sectional her senior year.

During her career as a Lady Rebel, Griffin received numerous individual honors and awards, including being named to the 11-AAA All-District Team, 6-AAA All-Region Team, and the All-Mid State First Team, and was also invited to play in the State All-Star game.

“We are very pleased that Delaney will be joining us,” Sayers said. “She is a tenacious, hard-working, versatile player, who will provide us with options and depth in wide and central positions. Delaney is a great addition to the squad.”

Throughout her club career, Griffin, has won four State Championships, and led the Region III Southeast Premier League in scoring while playing with FC Alliance. Griffin has also played for the TN ODP State Team since 2008 and was invited to a National ID Camp.

“Delaney is a very skilled and explosive player,” assistant coach Debs Brereton said. “Her dynamic movement and tenacity in front of goal will make her an excellent addition to our attack. Her ability to hold up the ball up, combine in tight areas, and make intelligent runs in the final third makes her a potent threat going forward.”

The daughter of Leland and Cassie Griffin, Delaney plans to major in pre-med at ETSU and has aspirations of one day becoming a physician.
