Women’s Soccer hosts Wofford (Oct.21) and Furman (Oct.23) to end the regular season

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn.  (October 20, 2016) – This weekend marks the end of the regular season for the ETSU women’s soccer team as they host Wofford on Friday, Oct.21 at 7:00 p.m. followed by Furman on Sunday, Oct.23 at 2:00 p.m.

Scouting the Buccaneers
Heading into the final weekend of the regular season the Buccaneers have an overall record of 9-5-2 and 4-2-1 in the Southern Conference. ETSU has won seven of their last 11 contests, posting four home wins and four shutouts during that time. A victory this weekend for the blue and gold will clinch their fourth double-digit win season in the last six years.

Goldoni – One of the Nation’s Best
Sophomore Eleonora Goldoni (Ferrara, Italy) has implemented herself as one of the best players in the NCAA this season, ranking sixth in the nation in total goals with 12. Goldoni ranks 17th in the country in goals per game and 19th in total points (26).

Home Sweet Home
ETSU has been dominant during the 2016-17 campaign inside Summers-Taylor Stadium posting an undefeated record of 6-0-0. With one shutout this weekend, the Bucs will tie the program record for most shutout at home with six.

Inside the Numbers
During the 2016 campaign the Bucs are 5-0-1 on Friday games … In every victory this season, the Bucs have scored the first goal … ETSU is 7-0-0 when leading at the half … the blue and gold are searching for their 30th SoCon regular season victory

Scouting the Wofford Terriers
It will be the 12th meeting between the Buccaneers and Terriers on Friday with Wofford leading the all-time series, 6-4-1. Wofford this season is 2-13-1 and 0-6-1 in conference play and have lost four straight contests. The Terriers are led offensively by junior Katie Beuerlein who leads the team with three goals.

Scouting the Furman Paladins
Furman heads into the weekend with an overall record of 11-3-1 and 5-2 in SoCon play. It will also be the 12th meeting between the Bucs and the Paladins with Furman leading the all-time series, 11-0. As a team Furman leads SoCon in shots (289), points (119), goals (42) and goals against average (0.72).

ETSU Hosts the 2016 Southern Conference Tournament
For the first time in school history the ETSU women’s soccer program will host the 2016 Southern Conference Tournament. The tournament begins with semi-finals matches on November 4, followed by the championship game on Nov.6. The tournament will be played inside Summers-Taylor Stadium.
