JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (March 21, 2019) – ETSU head women’s soccer coach Adam Sayers announced Thursday that his squad would be hosting a four-team jamboree to kick off the spring season — set for Saturday, March 23 at Summers-Taylor Stadium.
Joining the Bucs are cross-state opponents Virginia Tech, Appalachian State and Western Carolina. Four 60-minute games will take place with 10-minute halftimes, beginning at 10:30 a.m.
“We’re very excited about welcoming these teams to campus,” Sayers said. “We have Western Carolina, our rivals and friends from the SoCon, and it’s always a pleasure to host them. Also, having teams the caliber of Virginia Tech and Appalachian State is an honor and a pleasure to host. We look forward to a magnificent day of soccer.”
The Bucs and Catamounts will each duel with Virginia Tech and Appalachian State, as the day kicks off with ETSU and the Hokies. The Bucs will face the Mountaineers at 1:30 p.m.
“This will be a great test for us as we look ahead to next year after graduating so many seniors,” Sayers said. “The players that are with us this spring that are returning will have massive roles, and this will be an opportunity to gain some great experience and growth on the field. It’s a very important day for us, and we look forward to competing.”
