JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Dec. 1, 2021) – East Tennessee State women’s soccer head coach Jay Yelton and his staff added another Buccaneer to their signing class as Grace Eatz (Roswell, Ga.) will be joining the Blue and Gold in the fall of 2022.
Eatz, a 5-foot-7 midfielder/defender lettered at Blessed Trinity, where she played soccer and basketball. The Roswell, Ga. native has had success both on the pitch and in the classroom. Eatz helped guide Blessed Trinity to the 2021 state championship, while she earned Summa Cum Laude honors for three straight years. The Titans went 15-1-1 in 2021 en route to capturing their sixth state championship in program history. Eatz comes from an athletic family as her father, Brian, played baseball at Coker College.
“We are excited about adding a player of Grace’s quality to our incoming class,” said Yelton. “Grace is a player that I think will make a swift impact on our team as she has a high level of technical ability and adds to it an excellent tactical understanding of the game that will allow her to be an outstanding player for us. She is an exceptional student, and is a great all-around fit for us and the university as a whole.”
Eatz is excited to join the Buccaneer family.
“I signed with ETSU because of its welcoming atmosphere and supportive community that was felt as soon as I stepped on campus,” said Eatz. “I look forward to helping grow the program, winning a SoCon Championship and playing in the NCAA Tournament.”
Eatz joins the signing class featuring Natalie Capannelli (Ontario, Canada), Aliya Cooper (Chattanooga, Tenn.) and Kinsten Evans (Nolensville, Tenn.).
