Johnson City, Tenn. (Apr. 17, 2002) East Tennessee State women's tennis head coach Steve Brooks Wednesday announced the signing of Sylwia Ziolkowska (Warsaw, Poland) to a national letter of intent to play for the Bucs beginning in the 2002-03 season.
Sylwia is a graduate of the world-famous Nick Bolleteri Tennis Academy in Bradenton, Fla. She was a member of the best group in the academy - Group I. Ziolkowska has extensive international playing experience and has consistently held a world junior ranking. At 6'0 she will add some size to the Buccaneer team.
"I am pleased to be able to sign a quality player like Sylwia to an NLI to play tennis for me at ETSU," said Brooks Wednesday afternoon. " Sylwia could have signed with almost any team in the country and she has chosen ETSU. I plan to sign several other quality players like Sylwia in hopes of making the ETSU women's tennis team a very solid nationally-ranked team. I hope that the upper East Tennessee tennis supporters will support these players to help them move onto the national scene."
The Buccaneers return to action on Thursday at 1 p.m. as they face Appalachian State in the first round of the Southern Conference Women's Tennis Championships from Charleston, S.C.
