Johnson City, Tenn. (Apr. 8, 2002) � The East Tennessee State women's tennis team fell to UNC Greensboro, 7-0, Monday afternoon from the UNCG Tennis Courts in Greensboro, N.C. The Spartans (6-10) took all three doubles matches to win the doubles point. Sonnia Orellana and Lindsey Peel knocked off the ETSU (1-18, 0-7 Southern Conference) team of freshman Gemma Halim (Jakarta, Indonesia) and sophomore Jessica Irey (Belle Glade, Fla.) in a tough 9-7 match at the No. 1 seed. UNCG's Kate LaCoste and Kristen Adamson picked it up with an 8-3 victory over ETSU sophomores Tatiana Arriaran (Cochabamba, Colombia) and Aimee Villaviencio (Louisville, Ky.) in the two spot. At No. 3, the Spartans' Amanda Eutzler and Carlin Kannan cruised to an 8-0 victory over ETSU sophomore Heather Jones (Elizabethton, Tenn.) and junior Charmaine Luvis (Gastonia, N.C.). In singles play, Orellana knocked off ETSU's Halim 6-1, 7-6 (3) at No. 1. UNCG's Peel defeated Buccaneer Irey 7-6 (4), 6-1 in the two slot. The Spartans' Kannan used straight sets of 6-3, 6-2 to defeat Arriaran of ETSU at No. 3. LaCoste cruised past the Bucs' Villaviencio 6-1, 6-3 in the four slot. UNCG's Adamson needed three sets to get past ETSU's Jones, 3-6, 6-4, 6-0 in the five spot. At No. 6, the Spartans' Eutzler disposed of Charmaine Luvis, 6-0, 6-0 for the victory. The Buccaneers return to action on Thursday as they travel to Rock Hill, S.C. to face Winthrop at 2:30 p.m. Match Results Singles #1 Sonnia Orellana (UNCG) def.
