Buies Creek, N.C. -- The East Tennessee State women's tennis team competes this weekend at the James R. Nisbet Intercollegiate Women's Tournament hosted by Campbell University. In the Flight A bracket, sophomore Jessica Irey defeated Gardner-Webb's Courtney McInnis in three sets, 4-6, 7-5, 6-0. Irey advances to the next round to face Carmen Linder of Campbell. Linder advanced by defeating Kristen Nicholls of North Carolina State. In the third round, Linder takes the match 7-5, 2-6, 7-6 (2) from Irey. Sophomore Tatiana Arrarian withdrew from her second round match early this morning. Arririan was to face host Campbell's Laurence Poujoulat. Sophomore Aimee Villavicencio advanced to the third round by defeating Melissa DeJong of Gardner Webb, 6-0 and 6-4. Villavicencio faced Isabel Declercq of Campbell in the third round. Declerq advenceed to this match after her opponent, Stacie Ludders of UNC-Charlotte, withdrew. Villavicencio lost the match 0-6 and 1-6. Villavicencio still will be representing the Buccaneers at Campbell as she will be competing in doubles with Gardner Webb's Elena Iltcheva. Villavicencio and Iltcheva will play Jennifer Hatch and Lauren Hastings from UNC-Charlotte. Results from the doubles matches will be available on Saturday.
