Johnson City, Tenn. -- Megan Edwards, former ETSU women's tennis star from 1996-2000, has been hired by the National Basketball Association as a team assistant for the Asheville (N.C.) Altitude. The Altitude is a member of the eight-team National Basketball Development League (NBDL), which is owned by the NBA, but operates as a separate entity. The NBDL will serve as the minor leagues for the NBA. Edwards will work as a team coordinator and/or assistant to the team president. The president of the Asheville Altitude is former Southern Conference commissioner Alfred White. Edwards played four seasons of tennis at ETSU, tallying a 65-47 singles record, and is fifth on the ETSU all-time singles win list. Megan also ranks among the best doubles players in ETSU history, with a 72-42 all-time record.
