Women's tennis announces signing of Stupak

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (August 24, 2006) - ETSU women's tennis coach Steve Brooks recently announced that Ukrainian standout Yevgeniya Stupak (Kyiv, Ukraine) has joined the Lady Bucs for the 2006-07 season.

Stupak, a highly-rated junior player, who at 16 was ranked No. 307 in the ITF World Junior Rankings, comes to ETSU from the National Technical University of Ukraine. Yevgeniya has also competed in several tournaments sponsored by the WTA earning a world ranking as high as No. 1100.

"I am very happy to complete the 2006-2007 recruiting class with the addition of Yevgeniya Stupak," said Brooks. "Yevgeniya is a very solid player with a lot of experience. I feel our team will improve on last years results with new scholarship players, Yevgeniya and Brittney Stewart, who was ranked #7 in Tennessee, along with American walk-on Whitney Trotter, who was #3 in Mexico."

 

The Lady Bucs will open the 2006-07 season when they host the ETSU Tournament, September 15-17.
