Lady Bucs fall at ITA Southeast Regional
Saturday, October 20, 2007

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (Oct. 20, 2007) - The Lady Bucs tennis team concluded play at the ITA Southeast Regional Championships Saturday at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center at the University of North Carolina.

Sophomore Yevgeniya Stupak (Kyiv, Ukraine) fell to No. 102 Elizabeth Plotkin of Duke, 6-2, 6-2 in the Round of 32.

Competing in doubles Stupak and Olya Batsula (Minsk, Belarus) fell to the No. 4 seeded team of Sophie Grabinski and Sanaz Marand of North Carolina, 8-1.

"Yevgeniya played well and had lots of opportunities but just didn't get it done today. Of all the 31 other players in the round of 32 this was the one match up I didn't want her to have to have. Plotkin has a big serve and it just wasn't a good match up for us. In doubles we got down early and just couldn't convert on our break points to make the match a lot closer. It was good for us to be seeded and if you're going to lose at least it is to a higher seed," said head coach Steve Brooks.

The Lady Bucs will return to action on Oct. 26 as the team travels to the University of South Carolina for the Southern Intercollegiate Championships. Keep up with all ETSU women's tennis action at www.ETSUBucs.com.
