DURHAM, N.C. (November 7, 2008) - As opening-round play ended at the Duke/UNC Kitty Harrison Invitational Friday, the ETSU women's tennis team found itself winning four singles matches all against the College of Charleston, in Durham, N.C.
Leading the way was No. 63rd junior Yevgeniya Stupak (Kyiv, Ukraine) who dropped highly seeded Kinsey Casey in straight sets, 6-0, 6-1. Also winning in singles action was senior Tara Byrne (Johnson City) who dropped Keely Mulligan, 6-1, 6-2.
Also in action for the Bucs was Karina Kedzo (Puerto Ordaz, Venezuela) who defeated Anna Lee Evans, 6-1, 6-2. Finally, rounding out the scores for the ETSU was freshman Paula Jamie (Madrid, Spain) who advanced by defeating Nina Burgoon with a three set 4-6, 6-3, 10-4 comeback win.
