ETSU to reschedule matches vs. MTSU and Winthrop*
LEXINGTON, Ky. (Feb. 12, 2014) - Competing with just five players, the ETSU women's tennis team suffered a 4-0 setback to No. 38 Kentucky Wednesday evening.
"We were undermanned and overpowered today," ETSU head coach Travis Sandlant said. "Yesterday's match versus EKU took a lot out of us. To be able to go with a Top 40 program, we have to be at full strength. UK was too good today."
Tuesday, the Buccaneers (3-5) picked up a commanding 6-1 victory over Eastern Kentucky.
Losing to Kentucky's Edmée Morin-Kougoucheff at No. 2 singles, senior Salma Dahbi (Marrekech, Morocco) suffered her first loss of the year, snapping a team-best five match win streak.
With the win, the Wildcats advanced to 7-1 on the season, with their lone loss coming to the No. 1 Duke Blue Devils, who were recently crowned ITA Indoor Champions.
*Due to inclement weather, the Bucs' matches versus Middle Tennessee State and Winthrop, originally scheduled to be played this weekend, have been postponed and will be rescheduled at a later date.
