Bucs snap Stetson's program-record win streak, secure sweep of conference-opening weekend

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (March 15, 2014) - Putting the finishing touches on an unbeaten weekend to start Atlantic Sun competition, the ETSU women's tennis team knocked off Stetson, 6-1, bringing an end to the Hatters' program-record, 10-match win streak.

The Buccaneers (6-7, 2-0) won five of the day's six singles points en route to becoming just the second team to beat the Hatters (10-2, 1-1) this season.

In wins against Florida Gulf Coast and Stetson this weekend, ETSU earned victories in 11 of 12 singles matches.

"It was a tough couple of days of tennis," ETSU head coach Travis Sandlant said. "We stepped up our doubles today which was good to see."

The Bucs started the day by winning the doubles point, with Salma Dahbi and Sofia Espana teaming up to win at No. 2 doubles, while Jessica Brumit and Giulia Andreazza got the win at No. 3 doubles.

In singles play, Andreazza came from behind to defeat 2013 All-Atlantic Sun First Team selection Andrea Crespo, 2-6, 6-2, 6-4.

Brumit, Dahbi, and Ana Gerbasi extended their team-best win streaks to three matches.

Gerbasi and Brumit are 7-2 in their last nine matches.

ETSU will look to extend its three-match win streak as the Bucs visit Northern Kentucky and Lipscomb next weekend.
