KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (Oct. 19, 2014) - Competing in the USTA ITA Ohio Valley Regional Championships in Knoxville, Tenn., Lyn Yee Choo (Kuching, Malaysia) and Ionna Markesini (Athens, Greece) teamed up to advance to the quarterfinals of the doubles main draw, picking up a pair of quality victories along the way.

In the opening Round of 32, Choo and Markesini defeated Memphis' doubles team of Anki Wind and Alyssa Hibberd, 8-5 Hibberd was ranked as high as No. 38 nationally in doubles play last season, earning 27 doubles victories.

After knocking off Wind and Hibberd, ETSU's doubles tandem downed Hitomi Naito and Burcu Tari of UT-Martin, also by an 8-5 score, to advance to the quarterfinals.

Purdue's Daniela Vidal and Tess Bernard-Feigenbaum ended Choo and Markesini's run in the quarterfinals, 8-3.

In singles play, Choo advanced to the quarterfinals of the main draw, knocking off opponents from Kentucky, Miami, and Xavier in her first three matches.

Meanwhile, junior Ana Gerbasi (Caracas, Venezuela) advanced to the Round of 32, defeating Ball State's Courtney Earnest in three sets, 2-6, 6-3, 6-4, in the opening round before falling narrowly to Tiffany William of MTSU in the Round of 16, 4-6, 6-3, 6-1.
