KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (Nov. 2, 2014) - The ETSU women's tennis team concluded play in the University of Tennessee Fall Invite in Knoxville, Tenn. The tournament marked the Bucs' final action of the fall season.
The weekend featured several highlights for ETSU, including a strong showing Saturday when the Bucs took four of five singles points from SEC opponent Kentucky, which finished last season ranked No. 29 in the nation.
"It was a pleasing weekend," ETSU coach Travis Sandlant said. "The competition was tough and of a high level. It was great to see that we showed signs of maturity with such a young group."
Over the weekend, ETSU players won four of the five third-set super tie-breakers they were tasked with.
"We have been working very hard on this new format since regionals," Sandlant said. "To win that category is a great confidence boost."
Having finished fall competition, ETSU will kick off the spring season Jan. 24 as the Bucs visit Appalachain State.
