JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Jan. 20, 2015) - With the regular season quickly approaching, ETSU head coach Travis Sandlant has added one final piece to the Buccaneers’ 2015 squad, announcing the addition of Melissa Esguerra (Derrimutt, Australia).
Esguerra, who was ranked as high as No. 550 as an ITF junior player, brings a wealth of playing experience and talent to the Bucs.
“It’s exciting to have Melissa finally join us,” Sandlant said. “She was a top junior in Australia with plenty of international experience. She is going to be a valuable team member.”
As an ITF junior, Esguerra advanced to the semifinals of the New South Wales Junior International and the PHINMA International Juniors tournaments. She also achieved a Tennis Australia Open Ranking of No. 76., and was part of the title-winning squad at the 2013 Victoria Premier League Competition.
Like ETSU teammate Jayde Viccars (Glen Waverely, Australia), Esguerra qualified for the 2014 WTA Mildura.
